Sanderling (video image by Garry Clark)

I had almost given up hope of ever taking useful video of Sanderling. I had been told that they run up and down beaches avoiding the waves and picking up small elements of food in the process. Well I found that the best way to video them was to catch them resting on rocks. How useful are these rocky outcrops in the ocean. We sometimes forget that birds need to rest and these rocks just north of Ballina were the ideal spot. The total has increased by one to 442.
