Pied Monarch (photo by Gail Bryant)
In mid September we headed for Townsville to commence a drive to the tip of Cape York. With approximately 80 species of interest up that way we were hopeful of photographing and videoing a few, as well as accomplishing the task of reaching the tip. We found the task was not that easy but I did manage 8 new species on video and improved video of about 30 species, and Gail photographed about 30 new species. The total in now 464. Getting there slowly.
In addition to the Pied Monarch above new species included;
We had no luck with many of the iconic species eg Palm Cockatoo, Golden-shouldered Parrot, Lovely Fairy-Wren, Mangrove Robin, etc. Guess that gives us a reason to travel back that way sometime in the future.
